The Bell

Part of our class gift funded the restoration of a 100 year old, 1000-pound bell that graced the old Carrollton courthouse that became the first site of Benjamin Franklin High School. The bell was refurbished by its original manufacturer, McShane Bell Foundry in Baltimore, Maryland. Both the “F” and the bell have been placed permanently on the school grounds and will be presented to the school at a ceremony as part of our reunion on Friday October 24, 2014. As of October 3, the bell and yoke are finished and they are fabricating the steel stand. The finished product is scheduled for truck shipment October 10.
